Today we’re going to talk about employment practices liability and third party liability exposure.
When we talk about third party liability claims, we talk about claims that come in against your organization from somebody who is considered a non-employee. When we talk about non-employees, we’re talking about your customers, your clients, depending on what your organization is, possibly patients. So when a claim comes in, it’s going to come in as harassment or discrimination against your organization claiming that an employee of your organization discriminated or harassed this client, customer or patient.
When we look for coverage for this type of claim, we look at the employment practices liability policy. Typically, most policies automatically include that third party coverage, but we want to make sure that it’s in there no matter what. Some policies don’t automatically include it, so if it’s not in there or if it’s something that you opted not to have in your coverage, we want to make sure, if the exposure is there, that we get the coverage taken care of. If you don’t have employment practices liability coverage and you feel like this is an exposure for you, feel free to give WA a call. Or if you have any questions about any other lines of coverage, feel free to give WA a call and we’d be happy to help you with any of your questions. Thanks for listening and have a great day!
